yosep | 11:11 AM | 0 comments

The Grandeur TG is a full-size sedan introduced for the 2006 model year. A redesigned XG350, it shares a platform with the Sonata. It is sold as the Hyundai Azera in North America, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.

Being a step up from the Sonata, the Azera is priced at US$24,995 for a base model, US$27,495 for the Limited version, and $29,995 for the Ultimate Package. The flagship Azera will be the most luxurious sedan Hyundai is selling outside of Korea and the Middle East, until 2007, when an all-new rear-wheel drive luxury sedan is released under the Hyundai name in North America to test the waters for a future luxury brand.

The Azera has a four-wheel independent suspension (multi-link in the rear) and uses the company's new 3.8 L Lambda V6, which produces 263 hp (196 kW). The power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission with "Shiftronic" manual gear selection. Hyundai claims 6.3 s to accelerate to 60 mph (97 km/h) and a top speed of 157 mph (252 km/h). Fuel economy of 19 mpg (12.4 L/100 km) in the city and 28 mpg (8.4 L/100 km) on the highway is expected.

The Limited trim level adds 17 in alloy wheels, heated front seats, leather seat-upholstery, and a power sun shade in the rear window. The Ultimate Package includes an enhanced audio system with 10 speakers and a 6 CD changer, a power sunroof, telescopic steering wheel, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

The Azera was named "Best New Family Car (over CAN$35,000)" in the 2006 Canadian Car of the Year awards. It also was awarded by Car and Driver as having more rear legroom than a BMW 7 Series. It is also said to have more overall interior room than the BMW 7 Series.

Hummer H2 SUT (2005)

vehicles differ in many ways and are constructed in three other GM plants. The H2's final frame assembly is made up of 3 sections: The front uses a modified GM 2500-Series utility frame, the mid-section is all new and is completely boxed, and the rear section uses a modifed GM 1500-Series frame which is upgraded for the 8000 pound (3629 kg) gross vehicle weight.

H2 sales were initially strong, but fell to 28,898 for 2004 and 23,213 for 2005.

The H2 was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2003.

Engine
2003–2005 6000 6.0 L (366 in³) V8

Capabilities
With its high ground clearance, large tires, protective underbody plates, and low gearing, the H2 is capable of climbing over a 20-inch-high (0.4 m) step-up wall. A massive truck frame and wide track offer stability against overturning compared to some of the more common light truck SUVs, although objective tests have not been performed by the government or other outside parties due to its specialised vehicle class.

The H2 is the second vehicle sold under the Hummer marque of General Motors. It is a large SUV (though smaller than the Hummer H1) with room for five passengers and substantial off-road ability. The rearmost part of the H2 SUV was modified to a pickup truck bed for the 2004 H2 SUT ("Sport Utility Truck").

Overview
The H2 is built under contract by AM General at a specially constructed plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, USA. Although it shares GM's GMT820 truck platform with the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, those

Fuel economy
For typical travel on improved roads, users report fuel economy of between 10 and 14 miles per gallon, which converts to between 14 and 17 L/100 km. Worst case urban driving is said to be in the range of 8 to 14 U.S. mpg (21 to 25 L/100 km). Although General Motors does not provide official H2 fuel economy ratings, most reviews have observed high single to low double-digit mileage, similar to the numbers above.

It should be noted that other large vehicles also have poor fuel economy especially with optional larger engines including the Dodge Ram 1500 series pickup trucks equipped with either the 8.3L V10 (MSRP US$48,500) or the 4.7L V8 Flexible Fuel engine running E85 fuel (MSRP US$31,300). Both of these engines are rated at 9 U.S. mpg city and 11 U.S. mpg highway by the E.P.A. as one example.

Tax benefits
Under the United States income tax code, the cost of vehicles over 6,000 pounds (2722 kg) can be deducted from income. This deduction was enacted decades ago to assist self-employed people in purchasing a vehicle for business use. The weight minimum was intended to limit the deduction to commercial-type trucks. For many years, the deduction remained below the average cost of a new vehicle, since large trucks were relatively inexpensive. Since it is a reduction in taxable income, the actual value of this deduction averages 30% of the price of the vehicle in question.

The increasing popularity of these vehicles in the last decade, however, pushed their average price to nearly double the average passenger car cost. In response, the 2002 Tax Act increased this "Section 179 depreciation deduction" to US$75,000, and it rose again to US$102,000 for the 2004 tax year. This is more than three times the current average cost of a passenger car in the United States and covers a large number of luxury models, including the Hummer H2. In late 2004, the deduction was again reduced to US$25,000.

Criticism
The Hummer H2 is one of the most severely criticized civilian vehicles on the market today. Critics have expressed concern at the fuel economy which they cite as being among the most inefficient of vehicles. The Environmental Protection Agency does not test them for fuel economy because of their weight, they are thus categorised as light trucks and thus are not bound to fuel economy standards.

The Hummer H2 is criticised for contributing towards petroleum comsumption in the United States. In addition, they are criticized for obstructing the views of drivers behind them with their large vehicles. Criticism is also leveled at the H2 by safety advocates who have expressed concern that their size and height make them far deadlier to smaller vehicles as well as bicyclists, and pedestrians since the front of the Hummer H2 will likely strike the head and/or chest where injuries are far more life-threatening instead of the knees where regular cars are most likely to impact a pedestrian.

Honda Civic Si Sport Concept (2005)

The Honda Civic is an automobile manufactured by Honda. It was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door coupe, followed by a 3-door hatchback version that September. With the transverse engine placement of its 1169 cc engine and front wheel drive, like the British Mini, the car provided good interior space despite overall small dimensions.

Early models of the Civic were typically outfitted with a basic AM radio, rudimentary heater, foam cushioned plastic trim, two-speed wipers, and painted steel rims with a chromed wheel nut cap. The current Civic has become much more luxurious with satellite-linked navigation, a six-speed manual, power locks and power windows available. Still, many regard the Civic as representing a good value for the money, combining good performance, reliability and economy, as well as a very low rate of depreciation, resulting in a low total cost per mile or per year.

Ford Escape (2005)

yosep | 10:37 AM | 0 comments

The Ford Escape (Code U204) is a compact crossover SUV, sold by the automaker Ford Motor Company since 2001 and priced below the Ford Explorer. The Escape was sold in Europe as the Ford Maverick. It was jointly developed with Mazda, in which Ford owns a controlling interest, and was released a few months after the nearly-identical Mazda Tribute. A more upscale version, the Mercury Mariner, was introduced for Ford's Mercury marque in the 2005 model year. It fills Ford's compact SUV gap since the discontinuation of the Bronco II in 1990. A hybrid version was released in 2004.

It is built on the Ford CD2 platform, which is in turn based on the Mazda GF platform, which was used by the Mazda 626.

The Escape and Tribute were updated for 2005 with a new base engine (the 2.3 L Duratec 23), which replaced the Zetec 2.0L 127hp 4-cylinder. The most powerful engine remained the 200hp Duratec 3.0L V6, with new engine mounts. Ford also added airbag and seatbelt safety systems, an intelligent all wheel drive system, and exterior changes. 2005 was the first model year an automatic transmission was available on the base four-cylinder models. The automatic shifter was moved from the column to the console on all models equipped with automatic transmissions. Ford also deleted the recline feature on the rear seats.

Ford Equator Concept (2005)

yosep | 10:33 AM | 0 comments

In Japan, as in many countries throughout Asia, the Ford Escape is among the most well-known Ford products and a centrepiece of the company's customer acclaimed line up of SUVs. Known as the Maverick in China and other select market in Asia, the compact sport-utility vehicle was launched to customers in Asia in 2001 and is now among Ford's best-selling vehicles both in Japan and the Asia Pacific region.

The Escape/Maverick has always offered customers a nearly ideal mix of functionality and overall drivability—a small, sportier sport-utility vehicle (SUV) that provides the comfort and overall drivability customers demand for in-city driving while delivering the toughness and capability to perform equally well off-road. The four-door SUV offers good value in the market place, both affordable to purchase and economical to drive.

But with any good vehicle, there is always more to be had.
This new Equator Concept offers a glimpse of the future for Ford compact SUVs, designed to make everyday seem like a weekend. The new concept was developed in Ford's Lio Ho Design Technology Center in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Equator Concept celebrates the more sporty side of Ford's best-selling small SUV and, in the words of Ford Asia Pacific and Africa Chief Design er Paul Gibson, "is certainly a lot more track than it is truck."

Exterior design anticipating a high-performance, sporty drive
The Equator Concept incorporates a new body trim that expressly demonstrates its athletic capabilities and aerodynamics. The new grille, with its enlarged air intake, and the new hood convey the visual appeal of the engine within. The sleek headlamps were developed working with the research and development team at TYC Brother Industrial.

The front end and new hood are complemented by well-defined body panels and a new skirt for the bodywork that visually lowers the vehicle and provides a more aerodynamic appearance. The Equator Concept's overall dimensions are: height 179.8 cm (70.8 inches); length 442.4 cm (174.2inches) and width 178.0 cm (70.1 inches). The wheelbase at 262.0 cm (102.4 inches) is unchanged from current Escape.

An aggressive, street-oriented wheel-and-tire package features 255/50R-19 Michelin tires and unique 10-spoke wheels with a "Chrome Shadow" finish composed of four unique layers of paint.

The design team chose a paint they named, "First Light Orange" for the show vehicle. The deep, bright color was chosen to replicate the colors of the sun rising over the open waters in the early morning hours on the Earth's equator.

Bugatti Veyron (2005)

Following its presentation at the end of the previous year, the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 super sports car has set off a wave of exceptionally positive reactions from customers. The orders received up to now have already covered the production planned for 2006.

At its various public appearances, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 has caused a sensation in all important markets and has convinced customers from the Far East, the Middle East, the United States, and of course Europe with its unrivalled capabilities. In setting up a worldwide customer service and support network, Bugatti's related services have top priority. As of now, Bugatti has over twenty "Authorized Bugatti Partners for Sales and Service", their number and geographical locations having been defined by the priority allotted to the respective markets.

It is therefore no wonder that the United States, without a doubt the most important market for the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, heads the list of Bugatti's contact points. Coming in after the United States are the most important European markets, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland and France. The company's headquarters are located in Molsheim, France.

In Japan, a country which is also one of the leading buyers of luxury vehicles, customers receive support in Tokyo. At present Bugatti sales and service centres in Dubai and Doha are responsible for customers in Arabian countries. In the near future, Bugatti partners will also feature in other potential markets, for instance in China. The company's policy, however, is that Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. does not supply vehicles to countries where customers do not have access to official support.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 has more than justified its period of development by bringing forth a perfect product. This fascinating super sports car, outstanding in every respect, is a prototype for state-of-the-art technology and for the potentials of automobile manufacturing - a true giant on the market. After 50 years, Bugattis are once again rolling out of Molsheim - Ettore Bugatti, the creator of this legendary marque, would be proud indeed!

Fiat Croma (2005)

yosep | 5:26 AM | 0 comments

In 2005, Fiat announced a large hatchback with an upright tailgate, reminiscent of that of the Fiat Stilo, resurrecting the Croma nameplate. Again, Giugiaro styled the exterior, while the chassis was provided via the short-lived link with General Motors, sharing components with the Opel Vectra, Saab 9000, Lancia Thema and the Alfa Romeo 164. It has gone on sale in Italy in June 2005.

Unlike the previous model, and aware of its lack of image in the upper market segments, Fiat opted for not developping the class-standard sedan, concentrating on a car that was a cross between an estate and a large MPV, as evidenced by its roof and height of 160 cm.

The Croma, built at Fiat's Cassino factory, has three trim levels and five engine options. Like the chassis, petrol engines were supplied by Opel, beginning with the brand new evolution of the Ecotec 1.8 L with 140 PS (103 kW), followed by the torquier 2.2 L with 147 PS (108 kW). However, the bulk of the sales is represented by Fiat's own Multijet engine, available in three variants 1.9 L with 8 valves and 120 PS (88 kW), 1.9 L with 16 valves and 150 PS (110 kW), and the range topper five-cylinder 2.4 L, with 200 PS (147 kW). The Diesel engines are fitted with a standard six-speed manual gearbox.

The Fiat Croma has a 5 star EuroNCAP certification for safety. It is manufactured with nine airbags as standard including knee bag for the driver. It is also built with pioneering electronics to help the driver keep control of the car in every situation. As standard the Croma is equipped with anti-lock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution.
